Artistic approach
Ever since Robert was a child, he has created art and the only thing he enjoys more is to share his art with others. Something original, something made by hand with great care is increasingly rare in our society and to share the passion and commitment that went into its creation with others is a treasure. A commission for an original piece of art is a statement of values, a belief in the transcendent ability of art to communicate–among many things–one’s sense of beauty, to express love, and store memories.
Robert’s art borrows heavily from his experience and training in architecture, concerned as it is with proportion, value, volume and geometry. Conceptually, it is about connectivity, an exploration and discovery of the embedded geometry and proportional relationships that exist in a given subject. This approach allows Robert to identify the unique formal characteristics of each subject in a style that is equal parts realism and abstraction. For Robert, art is not about pure representation, it always involves a layer of interpretation or abstraction supplied by the artist.
A key feature of Robert’s art is its desire to engage the viewer, an invitation to understand the artistic process itself! It seeks to include the viewer in the process of its making. There is a strong sense of community that functions both intrinsically and extrinsically in his art and artistic process.
